Spouting off irreverent, licentious babble since I learned to talk. Possibly earlier.

About John

John

<solipsism>In the beginning, I was born.</solipsism> This event shaped most of what's been going on in my life so far.

These days, I spend much of my time programming for the company I co-founded, Sniglets, Inc.

For most of my childhood I spent my time as a compulsory guest of various government facilities, notably: The FSU Developmental Research School (now relocated and called the FSU School), Safety Harbor Middle School (also relocated), and finally St. Petersburg High School (still where I left it).

After some twelve years of this nonsense, I was given some choice in the matter, whereupon I (in perfect masochistic form) elected to undergo twelve more years of nonsense at another government facility, the Georgia Institute of Technology. For the most part I spent my time in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, although I did occasionally wander over to the Philosophy department.

Not being content to merely study there, I also worked in the department as a Graduate Research Assistant (federal regulations and the U.S. Constitution prohibit the use of the job title “Slave”) doing system administration, database and accounting programming, bringing online the department's first official web server in 1994, serving as cowebmaster for some years, and generally making a nuisance of myself.

About halfway through my extended stay with Tech, my friend—fellow ABD, and co-conspirator—Peter Flur and I decided that we could actually come down out of the academic clouds and apply our extensive, arcane, and otherwise motley skills to help business instead of academia, and actually—gasp—make some money while doing it. The result was Sniglets. Feel free to send us your web design, programming and computer consulting business.

When I'm not writing SQL queries, locking down Linux systems, and wondering why the PHP developers hate all that is good and pure about API design (while writing Ruby instead), I can usually be found working on any of the myriad projects resulting from homeownership, with help (of course) from my wife, Amy.
